Coconut Berry Refresh Detox Drink is a blend of hydrating coconut water, antioxidant-packed blueberries and pineapple packing in loads of vitamins!
When I posted this smoothie bowl on Instagram, I wasn’t kidding. We had been celebrating for a solid week at that point and nutrition was #necessary. Steven’s birthday celebration started last Wednesday which led into my birthday celebration and then Labor day smacks itself right in the middle. To say our bodies need a bit of natural detox would be an understatement. No regrets. ALL the birthday freebies were happening and I don’t think I cooked once! 0_0 I feel a little guilty saying that but you only turn 29 once…well, unless I decide I am not ready for the big three zero next year 😉
Just incase Labor day celebrations and, in general, all summer celebrating has hit you hard, I wanted to share our go-to refresh drink that makes sipping away vitamins and minerals a delightful experience! Coconut berry happened around the beginning of the summer when I was desperately trying to quench my thirst in a natural way that wasn’t just water and didn’t come from a certain drive-thru that served diabetes by the ounce.
Coconut water + berries= coconut berry for the non-hipster
Being the wanna be trendy hipster health nut that I am, I have been wanting to drink more coconut water. With all those electrolytes and potassium, I was all on board with natures’ Gatorade. But can I be a non-hipster for a minute and admit that I can’t really drink much coconut water by itself? I KNOW. Don’t be ashamed of me! I can drink it, I just don’t enjoy it a ton :-/. Not to worry! I did what I do with all the ingredients I need but don’t really want to taste too much-PUT IT IN THE VITAMIX.
That’s when the delightful fruit addition saves the day with it’s natural sweetness, while also bumping up the nutritional value and leaving you thinking you have totally treated yourself, when in fact, your little healthy insides are thanking you! Coconut berry for the win! ?
Our favorites to throw in the mix are pineapple and blueberries, which are stocked up in our freezer about 98% of the time, but banana, peaches, mango or strawberries would be delicious as well! Scarf up all the fresh fruit you can find and freeze them for the winter. We love having fresh summer flavors all snug in the freezer, but frozen bagged fruit is great as well. We love the Dole brand of frozen fruit and seems to taste the most like fresh that we have found! We grab a couple bags whenever we are at Sam’s Club or you can find them here. Dump the guilty feelings from too many hot dogs and hamburgers and let’s drink our vitamins “in the most delightful way!” (name that song).
