Calling all pumpkin lovers! 🙋🎃

I give you pumpkin in hummus form with a little sweetness thrown in there because we all just want the sweet side of pumpkin, right?

Not sure about you, but Pumpkin pie isn’t my everything at Thanksgiving. I don’t know why, but I have never been drawn to it unless served with whipped cream that covers most of the flavor of the pie. Pumpkin hummus though? Don’t even need to top it with whipped cream. ...continue reading "Sweetened Pumpkin Hummus"

Whipped Butternut Chipotle Spread- the perfect fall appetizer that can be made ahead and served on garlic toast with caramelized onions and cilantro. Simple, meatless and full of flavor! Your guests will love it! | wordslikehoneycomb.com

This was a soup.

In my head, I saw a pretty fall-looking, slightly orange but not the ugly orange, soup with bacon on top and some cute garnish. Yep, and then google hit me with the realization that about 16846514 other people had thought of the same thing.

And then I pouted. 😦😣😤

And then I saw that long pretty French loaf on my counter that I impulsively bought with no set plans to use, which becomes food waste about 83% of the time. I am not proud of it guys, but honesty is crucial.

And BOOM. It hit me. Time for some Fall Party Food guys!

Spicy Bacon Cheddar Dip with Fried Gnocchi Bites- an easy game day appetizer that will leave your guests coming back for more! Dip anything in this hot dip, but we love the little crispy gnocchi! | wordslikehoneycomb.com

Oh Friday…I have been looking forward to you since the last time you were here. And to celebrate our favorite day of the week-I bring you Spicy Bacon Cheddar Dip with Fried Gnocchi bites.

Yes, you read that correctly and it IS as good as it sounds.

Self-nominated Game Day chef here again to provide you with mouth-watering munchies during all those hours that will be spent watching people chase a ball this weekend. And that experience will most definitely be better with 87463 of these fried Gnocchi bites dipped in that spicy, salty cheesy bowl of love.

Raise your hand if you love bacon 🙋*me, me, me, me, me!!!*

Yes, if you didn’t raise your hand, then you are definitely the minority. I am sorry. So just allow the peer pressure to take you away and join ze bacon club. We are so happy here.

I definitely need to give my mama the credit on the inspiration of this recipe. I knew I wanted fried gnocchi but I texted her this: “what would you want to dip tiny crispy potatoes (she is a gnocchi newbie) in at a party?” and quickly received the reply: “something bacon and cheddar-ey”

Moms are good for EVERYTHING guys.

I mean…lightbulb! Why didn’t I think of that? Some foodie I am. What wouldn’t be good dipped in ‘something bacon and cheddar-ey’?!

So, listen to my mom, not me, and serve this luscious bowl of sharp cheddar cheese meets touch-of-spice-jalapeno meets salty bacon, whipped up together in a creamy dip that could serve as dinner.

Like, get a spoon and grab the bowl.

No, don’t listen,🙈 that may lead to tummy problems…*moderation, Brittany, good grief*

Don’t fall in love with this appetizer on looks alone though…because it comes together quickly and is ready to be served in less than 30 minutes!

SCORE.

A simple pan fry of ingredients, a mix of other ingredients + fried ingredients in the food processor and slab that goodness in a bowl and you are good to go.

If you have never fried gnocchi before, you are in for a treat! It cooks just as fast this way as it does in a bowl of soup! I am talkin’ you better watch them closely because they will be done in a jiffy for you!

If you are going to make this recipe for a crowd, I would definitely fry up two packages of gnocchi, since this sort of makes a TON of dip. And even if you love it as much as I did, and coat each gnocchi with dip to the point of creating a complete mess, you aren’t going to use up this dip with the eh…85 little gnocchi’s in a 16oz package.

So live large people. Load up on gnocchi goodness.

Oh speaking of…we are all going to just agree that we don’t need super detailed nutritional facts on this recipe 0_o Because it depends on your guests’ appetite, but it makes about 3 cups of dip and I recommend adding it to a mini crock pot to keep melty and delicious!

Enjoy your weekend folks!  We will be enjoying family this weekend and discussing casseroles next week...so I know you will be back 😉

Cheddar Pepper Pimento Boats-A quick under 80 calorie (for TWO) Game Day snack. The pimento creamy cheese filling can also easily stand alone as a dip when you are in a pinch! Brittany | Words Like Honeycomb

Try saying that 5x fast HA!

These little guys are in honor of GAAAAME DAY, which I know you love as much as I do! And then we are all honest with ourselves and confess our support is only as strong as the snack selection. Guilty.

But no guilt here! I am so with you on that one! I have had my seasons where I paid attention to all the little uniforms running around after a ball and I was appropriately dressed in team colors with my mega-sized sweet tea (because South y’all…) and cheered with the best of them.

I had my bouts with those sports but I came to grips with reality and self-nominated myself as a more devout follower of Snack Providers or Game Day Chef.

It fits me.

I like it.

It just…works.

Chipotle Bacon Deviled Eggs

If you grew up anything like me...you had deviled eggs at every holiday, event or church potluck.  They are a staple of southern society...and we ain't changin' it!

Those cute little yellow paprika-sprinkled eggs that cover every picnic table give a sense of stability that every get-together needs and we all know what to expect.  They don't offer  much of a surprise, but whether you love them or just kinda like them, I bet you will be grabbing at least one of those bite-sized goodies...no forks or spoons required!

Chipotle Bacon Deviled EggsChipotle Bacon Deviled Eggs

Well, don't be scared my friends, but I am about to rock the deviled eggs boat a bit and throw these little cuties right at yo face.

Think traditional deviled eggs...but taken up like several notches with

chipotle peppers...

smoked paprika...

and BACON.

CAPS always necessary when BACON is involved.

I am not saying to break all potluck dinner code and throw out your mayo/mustard egg combo, but PLEASE give these a try!  I was skeptical my self until I whipped these up and ate 2 3 5 too many!

And you just thought I was meaning to photograph three.

Chipotle Bacon Deviled Eggs

You guys should know me better by now...

I still kept a little familiarity in these with the addition of mayo-because nothing...NOTHING...gives the same creaminess as mayo.  But also threw in some Greek yogurt.

I know.

But I am not a fan and definitely could NOT taste it a bit.

I would not steer you wrong when bitter yogurt is involved, folks.  That would just be mean to you and your potluck.

Chipotle Bacon Deviled Eggs

Do me a favor and give these a try, mkay?  You will be happy and do a kitchen dance.

Do it for me.

And the bacon.

always.

I love you bacon.  When did this turn into a bacon love letter?!

Have a great weekend guys!! <3
